Erongo is Namibia’s most visited coastal and central region, stretching from the Atlantic seaboard at Swakopmund and Walvis Bay inland to the granite domes of Spitzkoppe and the Erongo Mountains. It has more campsites in our directory than any other region — from full-service coastal caravan parks to remote fishing spots along the Skeleton Coast and rustic bush camps near ancient San rock art. Erongo works well as a base for both beach time and desert scenery without the long drives needed elsewhere in the country.

  • Adri se Gat fishing area

    Adri se Gat fishing area

    Directions: Adri se Gat Fishing Area is one of the numbered/named fishing spots along the Skeleton Coast north of Henties Bay, towards the Skeleton Coast National Park.

    Activities: Shore angling (galjoen, kabeljou, steenbras and other surf species), 4×4 beach driving on designated tracks.

    Amenities:

    • Basic, largely undeveloped coastal camping/fishing spot — bring your own water, shade and supplies

    Note: A fishing permit from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (offices in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay or Lüderitz) is required for angling; rates are approximately N$14/month or N$168/year. Vehicles must stay on marked tracks within the coastal park.

    Directions: From Windhoek B2 straight onto D1914/ From Swakopmund B2 turn right onto D1914/ 600m tar road underneath the railway bridge turn right/ 400m tar road straight onto the D1914/ 4,1km gravel road turn left, 600m gravel road on the left hand side – Erongo Region – Gravel road can get corrugated – We source our water from a borehole, which may occasionally result in slight discoloration. To ensure a consistently refreshing experience, we recommend bringing your own drinking water along. Alternatively, you can purchase bottled water from our on-site shop.

  • Palmenkop Campsite

    Palmenkop Campsite

    Palmenkop is situated in a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert within the Dorob Park. The surrounding mountainous area, known as the Moon Valley, adds to its allure with its enchanting and magical appearance which resembles a moon landscape. Palmenkop was originally a small vegetable farm and family home but because of its natural beauty, the owners have recently decided to transform this place into a campsite so that its magical landscape could be enjoyed by others as well. Your rustic Glamping Site in the Swakop River – 40 km before Swakopmund turn onto the D1991, go over the Pipeline, drive for 400 m then turn left at the Palmenkop Sign, then go straight for 19 km to the Campsite. 60 km from Swakop.     We have 5 tents and three bathrooms. Each tent has two beds; linen and towels are available on request. Although the tents are all the same size, prices differ depending on whether they are booked for one person or two. Camping is allowed
