Caprivi (officially the Zambezi Region, though still widely called by its historic name) is Namibia’s lush, well-watered panhandle between the Okavango, Kwando and Zambezi rivers. It looks and feels different from the rest of the country — proper rivers, reed beds, and river lodges rather than desert camps — and serves as the natural link on any self-drive route toward Victoria Falls, Botswana’s Okavango Delta, or Zambia.

    Activities: Wild camping with hippos and abundant birdlife right at the riverside – Mudumu National Park is one of the few places in Namibia where camping inside the park is unfenced.

    Rate: Camping itself is typically free; park entry around N$100 per international visitor plus vehicle fee (confirm current rates).

    No fixed facilities – this is a wild/self-sufficient camping area, so bring your own water, firewood and supplies.

    Located 14 km south of Kongola, on the B8; Turn off is the same as the Park entrance, where one has to pay park entrance fee.The entry permit needs to be shown on arrival at the Nambwa Campsite

    The camp is run by the local communities within the Bwabwata National Park and operated by the Mayuni Conservancy. The management and marketing of this truly unique location was handed over to African Monarch Lodges to enhance the ever evolving experience of camping

    From Katima or Kongola, drive on the C49, which is fully tarred; Turn in the direction of the park passed and over the concrete bridge, than 10 km towards Rupara Restcamp. 4×4 cars would be ideal.

    Directions: The campsite is located on the banks of the Kwando-Linyanti river system of the Wuparo Conservancy. It is 3km north of the Nkasa Rupara National Park entrance, 10km south of the village of Sangwali in the Zambezi region of Namibia.
